What is a manufactured home?

A manufactured home is the same as a tract home, except that it is built in a factory instead of on-site.

Why do they call it a "mobile" home?

Manufactured homes used to be called mobile homes because the homes were literally mobile. Today, manufactured homes rarely ever leave the first site that they are placed at.

How are the construction standards compared to a tract home?

All manufactured homes built after 1976 are built to HUD (Department of Housing and Community Development) standards. HUD is the benchmark construction standard for the Real Estate industry. After installation, all homes are also inspected by an HCD (Department of Housing and Community Development) representative.

Can I customize the home and floor plan?

Absolutely. Many of our customers prefer to order a customized floor plan.  Our customers also enjoy choosing which options (such as type of cabinets, flooring, tile and appliances) they prefer.

Can I put a manufactured home on land that I own?

Absolutely. Because of the high construction standards manufactured homes are built by along with their cost-effectiveness, many people opt to customize a new manufactured home instead of having a tract home built.

How can I buy a NEW manufactured home?

All new manufactured homes are bought through dealers, like Pentagon Homes. The process is similar to a Real Estate transaction. One of the key differences though is that a Real Estate agent or broker cannot sell a new manufactured home, only a dealer can. After the homes has been registered with HCD for a year and ten days, the home can be sold or listed by a Realtor. 

How can I buy a USED manufactured home?

Both dealers and Realtors can sell or list used manufactured homes. By contacting a dealer, such as Pentagon Homes, or a Realtor, a potential buyer or seller can purchase or list for sale a used manufactured home.
